At-home hair removal with an IPL device is becoming increasingly popular. More and more people are looking for a way to be less dependent on shaving, waxing, or epilating. So when I had the chance to test the Laesera Nova One IPL, I was immediately curious.

First impression of the Laesera Nova One
When I opened the box, I immediately noticed the luxurious and sturdy packaging. Everything is neatly packed, and you have everything you need to start a treatment right away.
In the package, I found:

The device itself has a beautiful lilac color and feels sturdy. The design is ergonomic, making it comfortable to hold when treating different areas.
What I also liked was that it came with an aftercare gel. This means you have a care product on hand immediately after the treatment.
How does IPL hair removal actually work?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The device emits light pulses that target the pigment in the hair root. This energy can make the hair follicle less active, which reduces hair growth over time.
It is important to know that IPL is intended for long-term hair reduction. This means that hairs grow back less quickly and often become thinner, but it is not permanent hair removal.
How I tested the Laesera Nova One
To properly compare the effect, I decided to do a small test. I treated my left forearm with the Nova One, while I continued to shave only my right forearm.
This way, I could clearly see if there was a difference between both arms.
Before each treatment, I first shaved the area, as recommended in the manual. Then I used the Nova One according to the schedule of a few times a week.
After the treatment, I always applied the Aloe Vera Aftercare Gel. This gel feels wonderfully cooling on the skin and moisturizes well. Especially after the light pulses, I found it a pleasant way to finish the treatment.
When did I see results?
What surprised me was how quickly I started to see a difference.
After about three weeks, I noticed that the hairs on my left forearm grew back less quickly and also appeared a little thinner.
My right arm, which I only shaved, simply had the same hair growth as always. This made the difference between the two arms clearly visible.
The skin on my treated arm also felt smooth for longer.
Frequently asked questions about the Laesera Nova One
Does treatment with the Laesera Nova One hurt?
This is probably the question I get most often.
My experience is that the treatment is not painful. You do feel a small flash of light or a warm tap on the skin, but I found that tolerable. The built-in cooling function also makes it more comfortable during use.
After the treatment, I often used the Laesera Aloe Vera Gel, which has a cooling effect. This immediately calmed and hydrated the skin.
How often should you use the Nova One before you see results?
According to the manual, you should use the device about two to three times a week initially.
For me, the first visible results appeared after about three weeks. The hairs grew back more slowly and were less noticeable.
For long-term hair reduction, it is important to follow the usage schedule and then switch to maintenance treatments.
Which areas is the Nova One suitable for?
The Laesera Nova One can be used on multiple body zones, such as:
- Legs
- Arms
- Armpits
- Bikini line
I tested the device on my left forearm, so I could properly compare the difference with my other arm.
What did I like less about the device?
Honestly, I didn't experience any real downsides during my test period. It's certainly not a chore or effort to use the Nova One. It gave me some time for myself.
The device is easy to use, comfortable to hold, and the automatic flash mode makes the treatment quite fast.
How user-friendly is the Nova One?
What struck me was that the device is quite intuitive to use. The LED display clearly shows how many flashes are still available, and with the buttons, you can easily switch between different modes.
I found the automatic flash mode particularly useful for larger areas, as the device then flashes automatically as you move it over the skin.
How do you care for your skin after an IPL treatment?
After an IPL treatment, it's important to take good care of your skin. I used the Aloe Vera Aftercare Gel.
This gel feels fresh and cooling and helps to hydrate the skin well. That made the treatment complete for me, as my skin immediately felt soft and comfortable afterward.
You only need a very small amount of the gel as it spreads very well. It also absorbs quickly, so you can put your clothes back on right away.
How many flashes does the Laesera Nova One have?
The Nova One has 500,000 flashes. This is more than enough for long-term use and multiple treatments of different body zones.
For most users, this means you can use the device for years. In my case, my daughters are happy with so many flashes; they are now also using the Nova One.
Is IPL suitable for everyone?
IPL works best with a contrast between skin and hair color, for example, light skin with dark hair. For very light hair or very dark skin, the effect may be less strong.
Therefore, it is always wise to consult the manual and skin tone chart before you start.
My conclusion after testing the Laesera Nova One
My experience with the Laesera Nova One IPL is positive. The device is user-friendly, comfortable to use, and I noticed a difference in hair growth on my treated arm relatively quickly.
The treatment felt pleasant, and I found the Aloe Vera Aftercare Gel to be a nice addition, as it immediately cools and hydrates the skin afterward.
For people who want to be less dependent on shaving and are looking for an at-home solution, an IPL device like the Nova One can be an interesting option.
