Product description
The Nova One is an at-home IPL device that gradually reduces unwanted hair growth using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).
How it works
Light pulses are absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted into heat. This weakens the follicle, so hair grows back more slowly and more sparsely over time.
Built-in cooling and skin sensor
The flash head cools the skin with every pulse, which makes sessions more comfortable, including on sensitive areas. The skin sensor reads your skin type automatically and adjusts the intensity, or blocks the flash where IPL is not suitable.
Who it is for
Designed for Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV, with hair from dark blonde to black. On skin type V and on blonde hair, IPL is less effective and requires extra care. Not suitable for skin type VI, or for white, grey or red hair, which lack the pigment IPL relies on.
Where to use it
Legs, underarms, arms, bikini line and facial areas below the cheekbones. Suitable for women and men aged 18 and over.
Recommended routine
Use weekly for six to eight weeks for the best results. After that, a maintenance session once a month, or as soon as you notice regrowth.
Do not use
On or around the eyes, on tattoos, moles or damaged skin. Always follow the instructions in the manual.
Everything about the Nova One
How quickly will I see results with an IPL device?
After 4 weeks you will notice hair growth slowing down. After 7 weeks most users experience clearly smoother skin with considerably less hair growth. Consistency is the key: treat weekly for the first 4–8 weeks for the best result.
Is IPL hair removal painful?
Most users feel a brief pulse of warmth, similar to a light tap on the skin. The Laesera Nova One makes this extra comfortable thanks to built-in ice cooling technology: the contact surface actively cools the skin during every flash, neutralising heat immediately. The skin sensor also adjusts the intensity automatically to your skin tone. Sensitive areas such as the bikini line can feel more noticeable. Start there on a lower level and build up gradually.
Is IPL safe for the bikini line and the face?
Yes, most IPL devices are suitable for the bikini line and upper lip. Avoid the area immediately around the eyes. Use a lower intensity setting on sensitive areas. The Nova One has a precision attachment designed specifically for smaller body areas, so you can treat them accurately. See our guide on IPL by body area.
Is IPL hair removal really permanent?
IPL puts hair growth into a lasting resting phase, but is technically semi-permanent. A clinical study found that hair growth had reduced by at least 80% in all participants after 7 weeks. After that an occasional maintenance session is needed (once a month, or when you notice slight regrowth) to keep the result in place. Read more about how long hair stays away with IPL.
Can I return it if it does not suit me?
Yes. We offer a 60-day trial. Not satisfied? Send it back and we will refund the full amount. No questions, no restocking fee.
How long does the Nova One last?
The device comes with an attachment that lasts up to 500,000 flashes, more than enough for long-term use, including full-body sessions. Once the attachment is used up, you can replace it easily, so you can keep using the device. Read more about the interchangeable attachments.
Does the Nova One work for PCOS or hormonal hair growth?
Yes, IPL can be effective for excess hair growth caused by PCOS. The difference is in the schedule: the initial phase takes longer (16–20 weeks) and maintenance sessions are needed more often than with regular hair growth. The Nova One has been clinically tested on Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV and is suitable for all the body areas commonly affected by PCOS. Read more on our page about IPL and PCOS.
