Salon prices and treatment courses vary by provider, region and body area. The default value of €75 per session per area is therefore a worked example and can be adjusted to the salon you want to compare against.

What does IPL at a salon cost on average?
The price of IPL treatments at a salon varies by provider, body area and treatment course. For a fair comparison it is therefore best to work with the price per session, per area and the total number of sessions needed. In our cost calculator you can adjust these amounts yourself and compare directly with IPL at home. Only use a figure such as €75 as a worked example as long as no current, transparently substantiated market data is attached to it.
How many IPL sessions are usually needed?
That varies by device, treatment protocol, skin type and hair growth. IPL only works on hairs that are in the right growth phase, which means several sessions are needed. When does an at-home IPL device pay for itself?
That depends on the purchase price of the device and on what you would otherwise spend on salon treatments. Divide the price of the IPL device by the cost of one salon session for the areas you treat. With a Nova One at €219.95 and €75 per salon session for one area, for example, the arithmetic break-even point is around three sessions. With several areas that point can be reached sooner. This is purely a cost comparison; salon treatments and at-home IPL are not one and the same treatment.
Are there any additional costs with IPL at home?
The main cost is the IPL device itself. You will usually also need a razor to shave the skin beforehand, and aftercare products may be welcome. With the Nova One the light flashes are part of the device, so you do not pay again for every session. Take a look at the Nova One IPL.
Is IPL at home the same as IPL at a salon?
No. Both can use Intense Pulsed Light, but devices, energy levels, treatment protocols and supervision can differ. A home device is designed to be used by consumers themselves, while a salon treatment takes place by or under the supervision of a practitioner. How much time does a session take at home versus at a salon?
That depends mainly on the size and number of areas. At home you at least save travel time and do not have to book an appointment. According to Laesera the Nova One has a flash rate of around 0.5 to 2 seconds and is intended for both larger and smaller treatment areas. Total treatment time still depends on the areas you treat.
